Sammendrag / innholdsoversikt: L’analisi dei concetti di entità e identità nel campo della catalogazione costituisce il punto di partenza di questo lavoro. Poco esplorati nel loro significato più profondo e nella loro applicazione alla catalogazione, i due concetti non sono mai stati analizzati in relazione all’identificazione e alla modellizzazione degli oggetti nel settore GLAM. Si tratta di un’attività non semplice, soprattutto laddove la diversità dei profili rende l’entità un oggetto sfaccettato, con confini che solo talvolta sono chiari e definiti, spesso fluidi e, pertanto, difficili da fissare. La necessità di identificare le entità che compongono il ricco universo bibliografico ci porta a ipotizzare un altro modo di concepire la catalogazione: la modellizzazione delle entità si presenta come il terzo passo generazionale nella gestione dei dati bibliografici, imponendo o richiedendo un cambiamento di prospettiva nell’elaborazione delle informazioni ma anche nel linguaggio di formalizzazione delle stesse.
